NEWSPAPER CLOTHES!!!!!!!

Hi, my name is Elise. Me and my class did Newspaper clothes! The instruction was to make formal clothes. We had to make at least 2 jackets, 1 skirt and 1 pair of pants.

The people in my team were: Lara S, Corinne E, Lucas C, Lewis C and Me! I made a jacket, Lara made the skirt, Corinne made the pants, Lewis made a hat and Lucas made a hat as well.
We had 55 minutes to make our clothes. My biggest fear when we were creating this, was that I wouldn't finish in time. And that happened. DUN DUN DUUUUN!!!!! It was so stressful.
It felt like time just zoomed by like a cheetah! It went so fast. I liked doing it. It was pretty fun. I think we all should of had hats.

My team was so positive. We were all so stressed. When we were doing cat walk my jacket RIPPED!! My highlight of this challenge was when we were making it!! I hope you enjoyed my post on Newspaper Clothes!!!!!!!!!

If you could make clothes out of newspaper, what would you make?

The Big Race Of Cross Country

The Big Race Of Cross Country

On the 2nd of May 2019, the whole school walked to Walter Park for cross country. We had to wait for roughly 2 hours & 55 minutes. I ate basically the whole time until mum and dad got to Walter Park. We watched Cleo race! She was good. Then we waited again. Then Miss Parker called us over to the grass. I started to bite my nails. I glanced over at mum and she was smiling, I don't know why. so I looked back and Miss Hansen said "you have to JOG up to that soccer goal and back." so everybody started running instead of JOGGING! We went back to stretch and then we waited for about 3 minutes and then the race started. we lined up beside each other and I was biting my nails. IT WAS SO NERVE RACKING!!! "READY, SET, GO!!!!!!" Yelled Mrs Scott! We started running and I was coming last! I sped up and on the second lap I was coming 2nd!! I was so happy! I decided to speed up and catch up to Caoimhe, my best friend!! At the end, I was smiling because I came second!!! I MADE IT TO ZONES!!!!! My twin sister started crying because she was just, upset. At the end, after I finished running I hugged Ariella, my friend who got third place, and Caoimhe who got first place.

Winter Sports, Netball

Image result for netball ball NZWinter Sports, Netball
For Winter Sports, I chose Netball out of Soccer, Hockey, Football and Netball.  The people in my team were: Claudia, Lily, Mimi, Corinne, Zoe NS, Sophie, Jasmine and me. The very first time we played it was rainy, cloudy and windy. Very windy! The leaves WACKED me on the legs and ears! We lost that round. I bet we would of won if it wasn't so cold. The second time we played we lost. The third time we lost but got 1 goal. We kept on losing until Corinne and me went on holiday. Fortunately the last two games that got played our team WON!!!! Sadly I wasn't there, cause I was still in Canada. I got Player Of The Day a couple days before we left for Canada. I think my team played pretty well except the only problem was....... IT WAS FREEZING!!!!! My favourite position is Attack!

If you could choose a Winter Sport what one would it be?

Elise's Ideas On What A Polar Ice Cap Is

Elise’s Ideas On What A Polar Ice Cap Is!

For reading this week my group read this article:What Is a Polar Ice Cap?

The new ideas I have now I’ve read this text are:

  • Give everybody free solar panels
  • Turn lights off when you are not using them
  • Use electric cars, not gas powered cars
  • Use cardboard or paper instead of plastic
  • Bus to school/work
  • Have shorter showers
I have enjoyed learning about this and I think you guys who are reading this SHOULD care for the environment like I do!! Now I better understand what polar ice caps are. They are layers of ice covering each other.  They are found near the South Pole and the North Pole!

Kindness Is The Key To The World

Kindness Is The Key To The World

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been all about kindness and the big question
was: How can we build community through our actions?

First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness
and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organized into
groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could
spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we
would offer something that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and my group brainstormed lots about how we will do it and when. It
took quite a while to figure out what we were going to do. The people in my group are Taine,
Claudia, Blake A, Aleghia and me, Elise.

Reflection:

For our final product our group decided to pick up rubbish off the school grounds because it is
very dirty and messy (no offence). Do you know where the rubbish goes?

How did our action build a sense of community in the school? It cleaned up our school and it
made people happy.

I contributed by giving out lollies such as TNT, fruit bursts and tangy apples.

I think the PBL might impact on others by smiling and knowing that this school is a clean and
tidy place!

What I learned about working with others was team work is always the best way to work.

How can you keep the environment clean?
